Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

I am a board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Scranton. During my four years of undergraduate nursing school, I learned of a mission called Cura Personalis, which translates to caring for the person as a whole; mind, body and soul. That concept has immensely shaped my approach to caring for others.

For six years I was the charge nurse of the inpatient adolescent units at South Oaks Hospital. During my time at South Oaks Hospital, I became a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse through the ANCC and became certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Because of my certifications and experiences in inpatient psychiatry, I have proficient knowledge in working with various diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder. I also learned a lot about psychotropic medication and saw the need for passionate prescribers while working in inpatient care, which provided me with the motivation to get my master’s degree and pursue a psychiatric mental-health nurse practitioner certificate from Adelphi University. At Adelphi University I was also a part of a program called IDEATE which is a professional development group given the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams with a focus on providing care to underserved and high demand communities.

Right before joining Nassau Psychiatric Services, P.C., I worked at Brunswick Psychiatric Center where I was the sole supervisor in assistance to the Director of Nursing for a 146-bed adult inpatient psychiatric hospital. I also worked at The Child Center of NY Residential Facility as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. My professional experiences and education have guided me in becoming the best practitioner that I can be to provide the most individualized care to those with diverse backgrounds and diagnoses.
